Teach My Kid to Read’s (TMKTR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our mission is to support and empower students, teachers, and parents through education so all kids, including those with dyslexia, learn to read. We create educational content for multiple audiences, but we are especially interested in challenges upstream in higher education where many future teachers are not receiving training on the foundations of literacy, and the science-backed approaches to reading. Our goal is to impact teachers when they are students; before in-service and graduation. The expected outcome is that more teachers will graduate with the tools to identify or teach kids with dyslexia and reading issues how to read.
TMKTR creates innovative content about reading issues and learning differences. Content presents in broad categories each with specific goals. For example, the goal of “Our Stories-We are Here,” is to aggregate and personalize the challenges that families who have with kids with reading differences face within the educational system. These stories can be used for advocacy and to support more state bills for dyslexia. You can read more about the content categories here.
Educational publishing professionals, higher education instructors, and teachers comprise TMKTR. As publishers and teachers in partnership, we are singularly focused on creating and supporting solutions that enable all kids to read and be successful.
